Chapter 62
Chapter 62 I Want Him to be My Son-in-law!
“Daddy~! I had a dream! I was swimming in a strawberry-flavored ice cream cone!” Exclaimed Lu Xiyao, slurping the egg noodles Lu Qin had made for her.
“Weren’t you cold? Ice cream is freezing,” Lu Qin asked with a laugh.
“Daddy~! You missed the point! Don’t you realize how wonderful it is to have an ice cream cone that big?”
“I don’t know about that, but I do know eating too much ice cream can give you a stomachache. If you eat it often, your stomach might even catch a cold.”
“Stomach cold? Can a stomach catch a cold?”
“Of course, so you should eat less ice cream.”
“I think it’s fine if my stomach catches a cold. You can just buy me medicine, right?”
Lu Qin shook his head, smiling. The little one had become quite clever. Whenever he tried to persuade her to eat less ice cream, she always came up with an excuse.
After dropping Lu Xiyao off at the entrance of Starlight Kindergarten, a crowd of kids swarmed around them as soon as Lu Qin’s food cart appeared.
The enthusiastic greetings from the kids created such a lively scene that even the teachers and parents were left stunned.
“Xiyao, did big sister Li Xue go home with you yesterday?”
“Uncle, does your cart have lots of delicious food?”
“Xiyao, I saw you riding in Li Xue’s car yesterday. That’s so cool! Are you two close?”
“Of course we are! She’s my big sister! We watched cartoons together, and she even sang for me!”
The kids were filled with envy, and even the parents couldn’t help but ask:
“Boss Lu, is Li Xue a relative of yours?”
“Can we get her autograph? Our whole family are fans!”
“Will she come to the kindergarten again? I’d love a photo with her.”
Someone else might have been tempted to show off, but Lu Qin spoke honestly.
“She’s actually a customer. My daughter wanted an autograph, and by chance, we invited her over as a guest.”
“Oh, I see! Wow, Xiyao’s dad is amazing! Even celebrities love his cooking!”
“Yeah! Xiyao’s dad is so cool! Li Xue is your fan now!”
…
After exchanging a few words, Lu Qin prepared to head off with his cart.
“Xiyao, Daddy’s going to set up the breakfast stall now. Be good in kindergarten and listen to your teacher, okay?”
The little one waved enthusiastically.
“Got it, Daddy~! Don’t work too hard~! I’ll feel bad for you~!”
“Bye, Uncle!”
“Uncle, where’s your stall? I’ll ask my mom to buy something!”
“Daddy, follow Uncle with the car! I want green bean soup!”
It was undeniable—Lu Qin and his daughter had become the ‘stars’ of Starlight Kindergarten.
As Lu Xiyao was ushered into the school by her peers, Lu Qin’s food cart was trailed by several cars and electric scooters.
When Lu Qin arrived at Sunshine Elementary School and set up his stall, a line of over 30 customers had already formed. It was rare to see such a bustling breakfast stall—Lu Qin’s was the only one this popular. Nearby stall owners were stunned.
One owner stared, dumbfounded, for over ten seconds, accidentally burning the scallion pancake on their griddle.
A customer pointed it out with glee.
“Boss, your pancake’s burnt! Guess I won’t buy it then!”
The customer immediately turned and joined the line at Lu Qin’s stall. Chen Dahai, grinning from ear to ear, bought three portions of fried rice noodles, five cups of green bean soup, and two boxes of icy cakes. With his bags full, he walked happily to the corner of the street, where he climbed into a Bentley sedan.
“Dad, why did you make me come pick you up?” Asked the woman in the driver’s seat, her tone slightly annoyed.
“What, you don’t want to pick up your dad? All those years I raised you for nothing, huh?”
Chen Dahai glared at her before shoving a portion of fried noodles and a cup of green bean soup into her hands.
“Your mom said you’ve been skipping breakfast lately.”
Though his tone was gruff, Chen Dahai clearly doted on his daughter, Chen Yue.
“I just don’t have much of an appetite in the morning.”
“Hmph! Is it because you think your mom’s cooking isn’t good enough?”
Chen Yue stuck out her tongue playfully.
“You’re one to talk. Aren’t you the one who uses ‘morning exercise’ as an excuse to wander off every day?”
Chen Dahai sighed.
“Your mom loves cooking, but we’re the ones who suffer for it!”
“Dad, is this your breakfast? Let me take you somewhere fancy.”
Chen Yue looked disdainfully at the fried noodles and set them aside.
“You don’t know what you’re missing! Do you have any idea how many people line up for these?”
“I don’t like fried noodles—they’re too greasy.”
“Fine, if you won’t eat them, I will.”
Chen Dahai opened one of the portions and began eating, the rich aroma filling the car.
“So fragrant?”
Chen Yue couldn’t help but swallow hard. Chen Dahai took a sip of green bean soup, his face full of satisfaction.
“Let me try it.”
Chen Yue couldn’t resist opening a box of fried noodles.
Chen Dahai, having anticipated this outcome, glanced at her and said, “Hah, and who just said they wouldn’t eat it?”
Chen Yue ignored him, her full attention on the noodles. She took a bite and found them unbelievably delicious.
“Oh my gosh, this is amazing!”
She started eating in big bites, completely falling victim to the ‘true fragrance law’.
The father and daughter polished off three portions of fried noodles and four cups of green bean soup.
“Phew! I’ve never eaten this much for breakfast before. But it was so worth it!”
Chen Yue’s preconceived notions were shattered—she’d never expected fried noodles could taste like this.
“I was planning to bring some back for your mom, but… oh well.”
“Dad, what’s in these two boxes?”
“Icy cakes. Haven’t seen them before, have you?”
Chen Dahai opened one box and handed her a piece to try.
“It’s delicious! Soft, chewy, sweet, and a bit icy—better than any dessert I’ve ever had! The flavor and texture are perfect!”
Chen Dahai smirked with pride.
“Of course it is!”
“Dad, where did you buy it?”
“At the school gate.”n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
The Bentley turned a corner and stopped near the school entrance.
Chen Yue’s eyes widened.
“This stall? Look at that crowd—it’s terrifying!”
By now, there were probably 40 to 50 people in line. Even during peak hours, some of Jiangcheng’s most popular restaurants didn’t have lines this long.
Shaking her head, Chen Yue said, “I was planning to buy more fried noodles and icy cakes, but I guess I was naive.”
Chen Dahai replied, “Told you it wouldn’t be easy.”
The school entrance wasn’t a place for long stops, so the Bentley slowly pulled away. Chen Dahai looked at his daughter with a smile.
“So, what do you think?”
Chen Yue, focused on the road, replied, “Top-tier delicious. Dad, I’ve made up my mind—I’m going to have breakfast from this stall every day!”
Chen Dahai rolled his eyes.
“Who’s asking about the food? I mean the young man.”
Chen Yue was puzzled.
“What young man?”
“The stall owner.”
“I didn’t see him. There were too many customers crowding the place.”
“Then look at this.”
At a red light, Chen Dahai pulled out his phone and opened his gallery, showing her a photo he had sneakily taken of Lu Qin.
Chen Yue glanced at the picture, her eyes lighting up slightly.
“This is the stall owner?”
“Yep. Not bad, right?”
Chen Yue nodded.
“He’s quite handsome.”
Then, as if realizing something, she gave Chen Dahai a wary look.
“Dad, what are you trying to say?”
“I want him to be our family’s son-in-law.”
SCREECH!
Chen Yue slammed on the brakes, staring at Chen Dahai in shock.
“WHAT?”
