Cultivation Through Artifacts

Chapter 75: Blacksmith

Chapter 75: Blacksmith

Khal walked slowly on Moon Academy’s streets with such shaky legs that the other students around him thought he was drunk; he took each of his steps with such precision and concentration that small sweat drops started to form on his forehead bit by bit.

His legs were still not listening to him entirely and there were even times where he stumbled or almost fell just because of a random small rock coming out of the road; the sight was quite a bit pathetic.

“Hey, look… That guy there… What is he doing?”

“Who? Oh… I… Don’t know… Maybe practicing some kind of unique footwork or Secret Art he just started to learn?”

“What? Please… Don’t make me laugh, do you really think that sloppy and shaky movement could be a Secret Art? It almost looks like he is drunk!”

“…”

Khal who did everything he could to maintain his stability while walking closed his eyes and sighed.

Drunk? Your mother is drunk! I ran hundreds of miles straight for half a day without rest! Let me see if you do the same as me you will walk on stable legs or not!

Naturally, he didn’t say out loud those thoughts, but in truth, he would have loved it to say them! Even after resting for close to 2 hours didn’t help him at all! He was able to walk yes, but his legs were like jelly; just one single mistake or if he does not concentrate enough could make him fall over!

How funny! Oh, wait… It was not.

Right after his left, left after his right, Khal walked slowly with his head glued at the ground before him, but it wasn’t long before he was stopped by a guy.

“?”

Raising his head, he saw that the guy stopping him was someone he knew, or at least met with once; Nathan Wilster.

“Nate?”

Nate who was standing right before Khal with a slight smile etched on his face scanned his friend from up to bottom and asked, “What are you doing? Did you drink?”

“Why does everyone think I did drink? I didn’t even drink in my past life let alone this one…” with a helpless sigh, Khal smiled wryly and shook his head, “No I didn’t, I just simply run for so long my legs feel a bit numb… that’s all.”

“I see.” said Nate and was ready to help Khal, but he was rejected by a wave, “Please don’t help me. My condition isn’t that bad. But if you want to help me so much please, can you take me where I can apply for a Job?”

“A Job? You didn’t apply for one even after almost a week? What did you do?”

Upon hearing this Khal legally wanted to tell him he was not told and Logan forgot to warn him, but instead just shook his head helplessly, “It’s a long story so I will tell it to you later.”

“Hmm…” with a slight hum, Nate squinted his eyes but just shook his head in the end; if Khal said he will tell him later then let it be it. He won’t ask any further questions.

“Understood, then follow me,” said Nate and started to show the way, but after taking a few steps he stopped; he realized Khal was unable to keep up with him.

“This guy…”

After walking for straight 30 minutes before arriving in front of a building that in fact looked just like any of the others, Khal turned his gaze at Nate, “Is this the one?”

“Yeah, this is. You just simply need to go inside and you can choose a Job willingly. There will be a lot so finding one that you will like will be quite easy.”

“…”

Seeing Khal’s blank stare, Nate raised an eyebrow and asked, “Um… Is something wrong?”

“Oh, no…” told Khal but the next second frowned and asked, “I just can’t understand how one should find locations if each building is exactly the same?”

“What? You didn’t find it out?”

“Find out what?” asked Khal with confusion as he tilted his gaze at Nate.

“…” as Nate inspected his friend’s confused gaze could just simply sigh deeply and take his Cultivator’s Badge out.

“Just take a look at the back of your badge.”

“?” doing as he was told, Khal took out his Cultivator’s Badge and flipped it around; but the sight that waited for him surprised him white a bit.

“A… Map?” asked Khal as he watched the minimap on his badge with tiny symbols on top of each building; naturally, those were the names.

“Exactly. Your Cultivator’s Badge is half of your identity card and an item helping you navigate in not only Moon Academy, but in every city in the world.”

“And how did you find this function of your badge out? I dare you to say you just flipped it around and found it by ‘accident’,” said Khal calmly.

“Of course not.” waved his hand around Nate with a smile, “I was told about this by my teacher just like everyone else.”

“…”

“What? Did yours didn’t tell you?” asked Nate surprised expression after noticing Khal’s strange reaction.

“Do I really look like someone who was told about it?” asked Khal coolly, but his eyes already told his answer.

“…”

As the two looked at each other in silence, Khal sighed weakly and scratched the back of his neck gently, “Well, never mind. At least you told me and now finding things will be much easier.”

“Yeah.” nodded Nate and followed Khal inside the building.

Opening the door and walking inside, Khal looked at the new sight before him with wide eyes. Just like the moment he entered any of the buildings in Moon Academy, a terrifyingly huge space, which this time was a hall, rose before his eyes, while on both sides hundreds of stalls, each having different sceneries behind them was visible next to each other. One stall had a huge tree with different herbs, flowers, and grass around it, another one had boxes filled with weapons while there was even one that had a real and actual baking shop filled; it was even filled with various kinds of food too!

“As you can see, each stall introduces a different Job to students. You can go and ask about information if you want or there is even the chance to try them out personally just to find out if they are suited for you or not. Pretty cool, right?” explained Nate as he walked beside Khal in the hall.

“Yeah, it is truly interesting.” nodded Khal himestly as he inspected each stall on both sides with great curiosity.

Medical station, weapon station, food station, delivery station… There was even a stall that showed how to sew clothes and shoes! In a world where one aim was to become a legend, a Cultivator who reached the summit of humanity and all life forms in the universe! And in this world, they really try to teach people, with magical powers, to sew? What?

As Khal stared at this sight with great puzzlement, Nate tugged his elbow and pointed toward the far distance on the left, “How about that?”

Following his finger where it pointed, Khal squinted his eyes and frowned.

“A smithery?”
