Cultivating Disciples to Breakthrough

Chapter 37: Hit Him Where it Hurts!

Chapter 37: Hit Him Where it Hurts!

Hearing the elder announcing the beginning of her duel, Qing Yi did not move immediately and instead started to observe her opponent.

She learned from Wen Lu's example earlier and did not charge at the opponent the moment that the elder announced the start of the duel.

The boy in front of Qing Yi, also cautiously observed her without attacking immediately. From the looks of things, Wen Lu helped everyone learn not to be overconfident in oneself… Even the confident looking boy in front of Qing Yi started acting more cautiously.

Time slowly passed and after one minute passed, the boy finally grew impatient and attacked.

The attack was a simple palm strike with his qi infused into it, as the boy ran full speed towards Qing Yi.

Qing Yi almost felt that he looked comical, as he did not use any movement technique and all he did was infuse his palm with some qi as he ran straight at her. The amount of confidence he showed when he first entered the stage was baffling and Qing Yi had no idea where the boy got it from in the first place.

Stepping slightly to the side to dodge the attack of the boy, Qing Yi gathered the qi inside the centre of her palm as she hit the side of the boy.

"ARGH!"

Letting out a dramatic sound effect, the boy tumbled to the ground with a pale face.

Not giving the boy a chance to recover, Qing Yi ruthlessly sent him flying of the stage with another attack as he tried to stand up again.

"Number 26 wins, number 75 disqualified!" The elder announced the results as he told Qing Yi to return to the rest of the contestants and wait for the first elimination round to finish, while the boy who lost was sent out of the venue like Wen Lu.

The first round was relatively easy for Qing Yi and she passed it without any problems.

The competition continued and Qing Yi watched as several people revealed themselves to be stronger than others expected in a surprising manner.

There was even a girl who was only at the fifth stage of the Qi Condensation Realm, but she still managed to beat someone at the seventh stage of the Qi Condensation Realm!"

Outside of all this, Qing Yi still thought that the boy who managed to win against Wen Lu was the biggest threat. After all, the only reason why the girl managed to win against someone 2 stages above her were because she tricked him with… less favourable tactics…

At least the boy who won over Wen Lu looked like he hid his cultivation or something along the line, while the girl just used her assets to sway the mind of the innocent young boy…

Not thinking about it anymore, Qing Yi instead focused on the other duels taking place around the venue.

Xuan Hao was also looking around the venue, just to make sure he hadn't missed any talents or hidden geniuses.

From what Xuan Hao read back on earth, he remembered that the main characters tended to show up in these kinds of situations. Sadly, the only one who had that kind of aura at the moment was the boy who beat Wen Lu.

All he needed was a random grandpa inside of a magical ring teaching him everything he knew about cultivation and alchemy…

"Number 26 and 73 go towards stage 3 and get ready to fight!"

As Xuan Hao was thinking about the boy who beat Wen Lu, Qing Yi's number was called out and caused him to focus back on the venue once again. Looking towards the direction of stage 3.

Qing Yi walked up onto the stage and faced off against her second opponent with a cautious look on her face. The person in front of her was not like the one before, no, the one standing in front of her was at the same cultivation realm as her. The seventh stage of the Qi Condensation Realm!

Compared to anything she faced before, this would be the hardest fight she ever had, outside of the demon beast and maybe a few fights back in the Qing family… On another note, maybe the fight would not really be that hard after all…

"Stage 3, you may begin fighting at will!" With the announcement of the elder, the boy in front of Qing Yi directly launched an attack without waiting.

"Whew!"

A clear sound was emitted from the boy's fist as it flew towards Qing Yi at a speed faster than a normal person could see.

Focusing on the incoming fist, Qing Yi's pupil constricted as her palm's five fingers suddenly engulfed the fist attack by the boy and stopped it right before it hit her.

"Hm?"

Letting out a surprised sound, the boy quickly tried to pull back his fist, but the five white and slender fingers of Qing Yi held it in place with a steel like grip. Not letting go, no matter how much the boy tried to pull his hand back.

The boy decided to just give up and was about to throw another attack towards Qing Yi, but up close, Qing Yi was able to use her one free hand to punch the boy where it hurt the most before he managed to attack.

"AAARGH!"

A pitiful scream full of despair echoed through the venue as all the contestant turned towards the stage where Qing Yi was standing. A perfect counterattack.

Below her, the boy was rolling around holding the place where Qing Yi had ruthlessly hit him. The one weakness that she knew that she could take advantage of.

Looking at this scene, she remembered what her master had told her before she had made her way to the contest venue.

"Master, is there any good way for me to win…? No matter how hard I think about it, I will definitely not stand a chance against those with more fighting experience than me…" Qing Yi looked downtrodden and looked at her master with upturned eyes at her master. Hoping he would grace her with a secret fighting method or something to help her in the upcoming newcomer tournament.

"Hah… Sure, listen here! When you fight the male contestants, all you have to do is hit the-"

Remembering her master's wise words, Qing Yi looked smilingly at the boy rolling around on the ground beneath her.

Her master was indeed wise, after just casually throwing a punch there, the boy was already down on the ground unable to fight anymore.
