Chapter 408 – Adventure of the Ghost Ship Pt. 1

Chapter 408 - Adventure of the Ghost Ship Pt. 1

Suo Jia, Whale, and One-Eyed Black Shark watched as Xiang Yun and Roger continued to swiftly destroy the small pirate ships around them with a whirlwind of attacks. Then, the two of them simultaneously soared through the air to approach the three observers. It was obvious that Xiang Yun and Roger were on a murderous rampage as they weaved through the Camus ships, wildly racing towards Suo Jia’s ship with a series of booms.

Tzzzt! A shrill whistle pierced the air as Xiang Yun sent out an explosive slash at full strength. An enormous, curved arc of light from the blade whizzed outwards, piercing through the air as it continuously shifted at different angles while rushing straight towards Suo Jia and the others.

Whoosh! At the same time, Roger began to spin in the air, his dancing legs moving as quickly as a machine gun. Blasts of golden battle qi shaped like a lion’s head formed in succession and rained down at the boat.

“Sh*t!” Suo Jia couldn’t help but curse out loud at the sight. He had no desire to watch this ship get destroyed - it was an enormous Camus ship that was worth over a hundred million coins! Destroying it so easily would be a shameful waste.

With these thoughts, Suo Jia abruptly leapt up and deployed the Space Shield in mid-air, using his own body to block Xiang Yun’s explosive slash. While still in the air, Suo Jia stretched his right hand out to instantly materialize the Sea God’s Trident. With a wave, the Ice Divine Dragon appeared and snaked through the air to clash against Roger’s golden lion head attacks.

Boom! The golden lion heads smashed into the body of the Ice Divine Dragon, making a series of bangs. Amid the flurry of flying ice shards, all the lion heads were eventually intercepted.

Xiang Yun and Roger naturally snapped out of their hazed rampage upon seeing Suo Jia’s figure and the iconic Ice Divine Dragon. Although they did not know the reasons behind Suo Jia’s actions, there was no way they could continue fighting if Suo Jia was stopping them from doing so.

After thinking this over, Xiang Yun and Roger both landed onto the deck. Meanwhile, Suo Jia’s body also began to descend from the air, eventually coming to a stop as he stood indifferently between Xiang Yun and Roger.

Xiang Yun and Roger did not actually think much of this. They both knew that Suo Jia was able to block the blade’s attack because of the Space Shield ability, while blocking Roger’s attach was clearly within Suo Jia’s capabilities.

However, in the eyes of Whale and One-Eyed Black Shark, Suo Jia looked like an absolute god. Not only had he easily dissipated Xian Yun’s and Roger’s attacks, he had also maintained a calm and cool attitude the entire time, seemingly very laid back. Even if One-Eyed Black Shark could have blocked Xiang Yun’s blade just now, there was no way he could do so without struggling to even catch his breath.

Ignoring Whale and One-Eyed Black Shark, Xiang Yun looked at Suo Jia and asked, “Boss, why did you block us? Don’t those bastards deserve to be completely wiped out after daring to provoke us?”

“Hehe…” Suo Jia smirked greedily as he pointed to the ship underneath their feet and said. “Completely wiping them out is a must, of course, but I can’t let you guys destroy this ship we’re standing on. This is an enormous Camus ship worth a hundred million coins, you know! It’s something that money can’t even necessarily buy!”

The other two nodded in understanding as they both instantly realized what Suo Jia’s greedy thoughts were. He’s already thinking of the enemy’s ship as his own…

Whale and One-Eyed Black Shark couldn’t keep their faces from darkening upon overhearing the conversation. What is going on? They had originally planned on robbing Suo Jua’s party, yet now they were the ones being robbed from instead. Moreover, the target was the ten large-scale Camus ships that they had only managed to acquire after saving up for fifty years…How in the world can this be!

“Hehe…” Suo Jia turned his head and smiled at One-Eyed Black Shark as he said, “Alright. If you leave your ships behind, you are all free to leave…”

“What!” One-Eyes Black Shark looked at Suo Jia in shock as he asked incredulously, “You’re even letting us go? Are you not afraid of us coming back for revenge later?”

Suo Jia confidently shook his head and declared, “No, of course I’m not afraid. The Devil Delta has countless pirates in the first place. It wouldn’t make a difference whether you guys were one of them or not.”

Suo Jia then glanced down at the ship he was standing on in satisfaction. “This flagship is really quite amazing; it’s truly luxurious. And this way, I’ll be waiting for you to bring me even more of these great ships again. In my eyes, you’re a major customer, hehe…how could I bear to kill you?”

One-Eyes Black Shark felt his vision darken. Now, he finally understood everything — Suo Jia had not been looking at them as people at all. The only reason he was letting them live was because he did not fear them in the slightest, and even hoped they would continue gifting him with ships!

As One-Eyed Black Shark’s vision darkened and his body began to sway from the weight of the greed, Suo Jia suddenly thought of something else and shouted, “Oh, right! Next time, remember not to bring any of those small ships. We don’t want them if they’re too small. If you come back next time, you have to bring these Camus ships. Otherwise, even if I don’t kill you, I’ll definitely torture you until you wish you were dead!”

“Pfft…” Hearing these words, One-Eyed Black Shark could not endure the suffering anymore. He spat out a mouthful of dark blood as his body collapsed onto the ground.

Suo Jia furrowed his brows together and said, “Don’t just play dead. And if you do want to die, go die somewhere else! I don’t want to get haunted!”

Suo Jia then turned around to look at Whale. “I’ll arrange a small boat for you guys to bring some food and leave here. As for these ten Camus ships, I’ll be going ahead and taking them.”

Whale shot a despairing look at the unconscious One-Eyed Whale Shark on the deck, then glanced back at Suo Jia. After a long while, he finally declared through gritted teeth, “Alright, I, Whale, will obey you. I hope that you all can take me into your care as a small, homeless pirate.”

Suo Jia was stunned by Whale’s pitiful expression at first. After all, Suo Jia had assumed that this guy was a character that greedily clung abjectly onto life. Why was he now lowering his tail and begging for pity?

After a moment of contemplation, Suo Jia quickly realized the answer. In reality…Whale was not doing so for his own sake, but for the sake of One-Eyed Black Shark!

To confirm his hypothesis, Suo Jia stared intensely at Whale as he said, “You see, we can’t you guys leave unpunished after attacking us. So…between you and One-Eyed Black Shark, only one of you can live. Go ahead and make your choice!”

Without a moment’s hesitation, Whale pulled out the pirate cutlass hanging at his waist and held it up against his own neck. “Alright, in that case, I will exchange my own insignificant life for Brother Shark’s life. I believe…that you are all true heroes who would always keep their promises!” With this, he summoned strength into his arm and prepared to…

Clang! With a burst of blue light, Whale felt the weight on his hand lighten. He glanced down in shock to see that the cutlass in his hand had been cleanly cut at the hilt. It was clear to see that in the critical moment just now, someone had broken his blade.

When he lifted his head up in astonishment, he saw Suo Jia currently looking at him in admiration. “In that case, I have decided that I will take your life. From now on, your life will belong to me, and I will spare Black Shark. But starting from today, you must obey all my orders. How about it? Do you agree?”

With a thud, Whale abruptly fell to his knees before Suo Jia and declared in an earnest voice, “As long as Brother Black Shark is spared, I, Whale, will give my life entirely to you. From this day onwards, I will wholeheartedly server you!”

“Wh-Whale!” At this moment, One-Eyed Black Shark’s voice weakly rang out.

When Whale turned his head, he saw One-Eyed Black Shark currently struggling to hold himself up as he pressed, “Don’t do anything dumb. My life is something that I, One-Eyed Black Shark, is solely responsible for. Just being able to become friends with someone like you has made my life worth living!”

One-Eyed Black Shark then puffed his chest out proudly as he roared indignantly, “Brat! My life is right here. If you want it, go ahead and take it! Don’t even dream about using me to threaten Whale into becoming your slave!”

“Haha…” Suo Jia looked at One-Eyed Black Shark in approval as he shook his head and answered, “I don’t want Whale to become my slave at all. I just wanted him to become my subordinate because I appreciated his altruistic character and courageous spirit!”

“What?” One-Eyed Black Shark was stunned by Suo Jia’s words.

Suo Jia studied One-Eyed Black Shark for a moment before smiling darkly and asking in a tempting tone, “I don’t think you look bad either; you are loyal and true. How about it? Why don’t you join me together with Whale? I can make you head of command of the most powerful, personal legion in the Devil Delta!”
