Chapter 98
Zuo Zhiyu had gone completely mad in Liangxi Town, but Quan Zhisui didn't care. She had already blocked his number, and according to Zuo Zichen's report, Zuo Zhiyu seemed to have lost his mind. He had bought various trending hashtags and even posted missing person notices, spreading the word everywhere that someone had kidnapped his daughter. To those who didn’t know better, it might seem like he truly adored his daughter!
These past few days, Quan Zhisui had been happily taking her classmates around, visiting several martial arts schools scattered across the back hills.
Wei Shixu had already started his recovery treatment, which was prepared in the martial arts school's medicine room. He had initially wanted to splurge on it, but Fan Shiliu stopped him and instead provided him with a course of traditional Chinese medicine free of charge.
Two days before their departure, the four of them set off early before dawn to visit the Wudang Mountain scenic area.
The scenic area didn’t have a cable car that went all the way up, so they had to walk part of the distance. Just forty minutes of walking was enough to exhaust Zhuge Ying, who immediately chose to take the cable car.
Kong Mingze spoke up, "I'll accompany the class monitor on the cable car."
Zhuge Ying shook her head, "No need. You’ve come all this way, and if you have the energy, you should climb up yourself."
She was out of breath after just a few words, her stamina poor from years of sedentary studying.
Kong Mingze was firm, "Wudang Mountain isn’t on another planet. I can come back anytime. I can’t let you ride the cable car alone!"
Zhuge Ying relented, "Oh... okay..."
The two of them went to take the cable car together, leaving only Quan Zhisui and Wei Shixu to continue the hike.
Quan Zhisui suddenly froze, blinking in surprise. How had it ended up being just the two of them again?
Wei Shixu smiled at her but didn’t say a word.
Quan Zhisui continued climbing at a steady pace, slowing down to wait for Wei Shixu.
Wei Shixu seemed to be handling the climb well, keeping up with her without much trouble.
They reached the Golden Summit two hours later, just as the morning sun was shining brightly.
Quan Zhisui rushed ahead, standing on the steps.
They had reached the highest point of Wudang Mountain, and the architecture perched atop the peak was breathtakingly beautiful!
In front of them stood the golden palace, flanked by red walls, its grandeur and vibrant colors awe-inspiring and magnificent!
Quan Zhisui stood in the center, taking in the view for a long time before turning back to smile at Wei Shixu, who was still below her.
The sunlight happened to fall on her, illuminating her from head to toe, making her glow as if she were radiating light. Her face was almost indistinguishable, only her silhouette visible.
Wei Shixu, who had been holding his phone the entire time, quickly snapped a photo of this moment.
He then smiled back at her.
Quan Zhisui reached out her hand, "Come up!"
Wei Shixu took her hand and leaped up in one big stride.
They had reached the Golden Summit!
Kong Mingze and Zhuge Ying, who had taken the cable car, had arrived much earlier and had already taken countless photos. Both of them were exhilarated, with Kong Mingze even joking that reaching the summit felt like ascending to the throne as an emperor.
An accurate comparison!
Their ten-day trip to Wudang Mountain came to an end.
The day before their departure, Quan Zhisui had already started to grow irritable. During dinner, she slammed her bowl down so hard that the group of students at the next table didn’t dare make a sound. After eating, she vented her frustration by throwing stones around the courtyard.
Zhuge Ying was also feeling melancholic, "Sigh, I don’t want to leave. Living in the mountains is so comfortable."
Kong Mingze sighed, "Same here. Not having to study feels amazing."
Wei Shixu chimed in, "What about transferring schools?"
The martial arts school was essentially a school, and learning martial arts here was equivalent to attending classes.
Zhuge Ying was startled and waved her hands frantically, "No way, I can’t do that. I still want to get into Tsinghua University! Transfer to a martial arts school? Are you crazy? All my years of studying would go to waste!"
Kong Mingze also shook his head, "I can’t either. I still have to think about my parents and our hotpot restaurant!"
Wei Shixu turned to Quan Zhisui, "I could transfer with you."
Where he studied didn’t really matter to him…
Quan Zhisui hung her head dejectedly, "I can’t. Zuo Zhiyu won’t allow it. He’s holding onto my student records and household registration as my legal guardian. He wants something from me, but I don’t know what it is."
Wei Shixu acknowledged this but didn’t say anything more.
He was looking into it, but the trail was old and filled with interference. He had only managed to uncover a few clues.
The key likely lay in a lead overseas, but the other party was extremely cautious and had refused multiple attempts at communication.
Seventeen years ago—wasn’t that the year Quan Zhisui was born and her mother passed away?
…
The four of them took the high-speed train back to Liangxi Town.
Early the next morning, Quan Zhisui was called into the tea room by her master for a talk. Several senior brothers, including Zi Ling, were also present.
Quan Zhisui was in low spirits the entire time, clearly reluctant to leave.
She was about to return to the detestable Zuo family in Liangxi Town, face that bunch of ridiculous relatives, and go back to that awful school!
Why couldn’t the Zuo family just explode!
Fan Shiliu pulled out a small pouch from a drawer and handed it to her, "This is something you’ve been asking for since you were a child. Now that you’ve grown up, as promised, I’m giving it to you."
Quan Zhisui snapped out of her gloomy mood, accepting it with delight, "Thank you, Master!"
Fan Shiliu nodded, "You’ve matured a lot. Keep your emotions in check. You can wear it after applying some cinnabar."
Quan Zhisui retorted, "I’ve always been emotionally stable. You should’ve given it to me earlier."
Fan Shiliu snorted, "Stable in beating others up, huh?"
Zi Ling and the others couldn’t help but stifle their laughter.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
Quan Zhisui insisted, "This thing was mine to begin with. I found it first. It’s mine."
Fan Shiliu glared at her, "I’m the one who paid for it!"
Quan Zhisui lowered her head, "Oh."
Fan Shiliu scolded, "Always trying to take the lead."
Zi Ling chimed in, "Exactly. Zi Nian used to always say she wanted to be the head of the school and have us all work for her!"
Quan Zhisui looked up, "I still think that way. Once I make enough money, I’ll build a massive martial arts school. I’ll be the head, and you’ll all work for me."
Fan Shiliu pulled out a cane, "Get out of here! Go cause trouble somewhere else!"
Quan Zhisui left with her three classmates, and Zi Ling escorted them down the mountain, watching as they boarded the car.
When he returned to the martial arts school, Zi Ling was surprised, "Master?"
Fan Shiliu hadn’t seen Quan Zhisui off, but now that she was already at the foot of the mountain, he stood at the entrance of the school, gazing into the distance.
He stood there for a long, long time.
Children eventually grow up, soaring higher and higher, reaching for the skies.
…
On the high-speed train.
Kong Mingze and Zhuge Ying slept the entire way, seemingly the type to fall asleep as soon as they got on any vehicle.
Quan Zhisui couldn’t sleep at all. Unhappy, she stared out the window, lost in thought, still clutching the pouch in her hand.
She occasionally rubbed it gently.
Wei Shixu also didn’t sleep, occasionally glancing out the window or quietly observing her.
Suddenly, he spoke up, "If you’re not going to use the hand-drawn picture, I will."
"Huh?" Quan Zhisui was caught off guard.
Wei Shixu clarified, "The avatar. I think I did a pretty good job drawing it."
Quan Zhisui was speechless.
Then she watched as Wei Shixu took out his phone and changed his WeChat avatar to the hand-drawn image.
It was a picture of a long-haired girl in pink and blue clothes, peacefully asleep, exuding a sweet and serene atmosphere!
Paired with such a bubblegum-pink avatar, Wei Shixu’s all-black outfit created a jarring contrast.
It was explosive!
Wei Shixu didn’t find it the least bit out of place. After changing it, he asked, "What’s in the pouch? You’ve been holding onto it so preciously this whole time."
Quan Zhisui gently stroked it before putting it back in her pocket, instantly reverting to her usual unshakable demeanor.
"I’m not telling you," she said.
Wei Shixu took a deep breath and muttered, "You really know how to test someone’s patience."
What do you think?
