Beast Taming: The Empress Is Shocked After Peeking Into My Future

Chapter 306 - 306 Meeting Old Friends

306 Meeting Old Friends

The Ice Spirit and the Three-clawed Golden Dragon’s attacks were well-coordinated, and they immediately suppressed the Silver Wolf Emperor once more. The wolf was unable to free itself.

The Silver Wolf Emperor tried its best to resist, but it was no match for the combined efforts of the Ice Spirit and the Three-clawed Golden Dragon.

A few more seconds later, the Silver Wolf Emperor was covered in blood. It had become heavily injured and was on its last breath.

The other spirit beasts were all dumbfounded and did not dare to come forward to help it.

The Silver Wolf Emperor roared fiercely, and its eyes shone with a brutal glint. It suddenly opened its bloody maw and revealed its fangs, which made for a terrible sight.

Just as the Silver Wolf Emperor was about to devour the Qi of all the spirit beasts in the area, a long arrow suddenly pierced its throat.

“Whine—” The Silver Wolf Emperor’s throat bobbed, and blood flowed out of it uncontrollably. Its eyes were filled with shock and despair. It never thought that it would die before it could perform the defensive skill it was most proud of.

Splash!

The Silver Wolf Emperor’s corpse fell into the water with a huge splash. The rest of the spirit beasts went berserk when they saw that the wolf had been slain. They let out mournful wails and charged recklessly at Shen Fei and Aloy, ready to tear them into pieces.

“You’re asking for death!”

Aloy’s mouth curved into a sinister smirk. She stepped lightly onto her Ice Spirit’s back, and the spirit beast burst out at great speed to meet the other beasts head-on.

A cloud of cold mist enveloped the Ice Spirit and wrapped around its body. The ice-blue radiance of the mist flickered, then it solidified and became like armor for the spirit beast. The Ice Spirit’s speed increased even more, and it instantly rushed into the crowd of beasts.

The Ice Spirit’s sharp ice-blue feathers were like blades, and they constantly cut away at the surrounding beasts. Crimson blood splattered everywhere. Some froze upon contact with the ground, appearing like flowers. Meanwhile, even more blood splashed into the black sea, saturating the air with the stench of blood.

In less than a minute, hundreds of spirit beasts were killed. The other hundred or so were frightened by the sight and turned to flee, disappearing without a trace.

Whoosh! The Ice Spirit landed gracefully on the ground with a flap of its wings.

Aloy was still surprised by what happened earlier. “What’s going on? Why is an Emperor-rank beast so weak?”

Shen Fei frowned and said, “Never mind that, let’s just continue. This is the core area, and the danger level is still high.”

“Alright.” Aloy nodded and followed Shen Fei.

The core area was very large, spanning at least three kilometers. Soon, they heard a rustling sound in front of them. When they listened more carefully, it sounded more like snoring.

“Hm?” Shen Fei and Aloy could not help but hasten their steps and approach the source of the noise. They soon saw a man.

This man wore a black robe and was sleeping on the ground.

Shen Fei recognized this man and quickly cried, “Senior Qian Yu!”

“Qian Yu!” Aloy’s eyes were wide as she stared at the other man in surprise.

Qian Yu heard someone calling him and was startled awake. When his eyes adjusted and he saw the person who called him, a smile immediately appeared on his face.

“So it’s you, Shen Fei!”

Shen Fei asked with some doubt, “Senior Qian Yu, what are you doing here?”

At this, Qian Yu let out a bitter sigh and said, “Sigh! It’s hard to explain in just a few words.” He looked like he wanted to cry, but no tears came. Clearly, he had encountered something very tragic.

Aloy patted his shoulder, indicating for him to stay calm. “Senior Qian Yu, take your time and speak slowly.”

“…Yesterday, I felt something strange, so I came here to check it out. But when I got to this area, I was hit by the illusion grass. I don’t remember what happened after that. When I woke up, I saw you two.”

Qian Yu shook his head and sighed. Then, he asked, “How did you guys get in?”

Aloy and Shen Fei looked at each other, then they briefly explained what happened the night before.

“I see… Oh, right! Then what are you doing here?” Qian Yu stared dubiously at them.

Shen Fei simply shrugged and said, “I felt the abnormality, too.”

Qian Yu frowned as he looked at them again, then he said worriedly, “The wormhole is more troublesome than the last time. The exotic beast horde is probably going to break out again.”

Shen Fei nodded. “We figured as much.”

“You should leave quickly, or you’ll be in danger!” Qian Yu warned.

“No,” Shen Fei said flatly.

Aloy nodded in agreement. “Moreover, if an exotic beast horde is about to erupt, the school would send students to stop it. I won’t back down, either.”

“Geez, you two are really stubborn!” Qian Yu felt a little helpless, but he did not push any further.

Shen Fei said, “Senior Qian Yu, if possible, can you take us to the base first.”

“Alright! Come with me!” With that, Qian Yu ran off.

Soon, they arrived at a lake. The lake was so large that it almost seemed like there was no end to it, and no one knew where the water led to.

Along the way, all kinds of strange ancient trees and plants were seen. They even saw a massive tree.

The lake water was clear and transparent, but it reflected the figures of many spirit beasts. Shen Fei’s gaze swept across the surface and he quietly thought, ‘There must be more than one valley here.’

After another fifteen minutes, Shen Fei spotted a cave hidden in the dense forest. The entrance of the cave was quite narrow; it was only enough for one person to pass through sideways.

Qian Yu said, “This is the entrance to the base.”

This was unexpected. The base this time was so different from the open camp layout with the watchtower they had last time.

“The camp from last time was completely destroyed by the Black Sun, so we built a new one,” Qian Yu explained. “Let’s go in!” Qian Yu then went inside the cave first.

The cave was dark and quiet. There was an occasional wind that blew past them with a whistling sound. Shen Fei and Aloy followed close behind Qian Yu and went inside.

The cave was also very deep, and the path was full of twists and turns. After a while, they reached the other side and exited the cave.

Whoosh…

A cool breeze brushed past their faces, and it felt pleasant.

Shen Fei’s vision brightened suddenly, and they came upon a vast area. There was a wide river here that stretched across the area.

“Senior Qian Yu, setting up the base here was a great idea!” Aloy praised.

...

“Hehe, but of course!” Qian Yu grinned.

“Shen Fei? What are you two doing here?”

Luo Ying, who had been busy going through some charts, looked up and saw Shen Fei and the others arrive. A faint smile appeared on her pretty face.

“Senior Luo Ying! We have something to ask you.” Shen Fei respectfully cupped his fist in greeting.

“I see. Come with me.” Luo Ying beckoned them and turned around, leading them to her tent. Along the way, she gave orders to have accommodations arranged for Shen Fei and Aloy.

Shen Fei handed the scroll to Luo Ying and asked, “Do you recognize these runes?”

Lup Ying’s eyebrows were furrowed, and her expression slowly turned more serious. “How did you come by this? This is Tao Ming’s blood, sweat, and tears. I didn’t expect it to be in your possession after so many years…”

“You know Uncle Tao Ming?” Shen Fei asked.

Luo Ying began to explain, “Tao Ming used to be part of our group. We did research on the wormhole together, but later on, because of… We were separated for some reason.”

Shen Fei solemnly asked, “…Senior Luo Ying, do you know what these runes entail? Can you tell us in detail?”
