Chapter 585: Grand hall (2)
Chapter 585: Grand hall (2)
Even though, he gained this army swiftly, Arial knows how to organize his army. He of course knows he could not be as strict as when he is managing his soldier in his land
Since the culture and the methods of fighting among the Thirteen tribe is different, Arial had to consider that in his plan
Some of them is modify following the Imperial Army organization and on some others he modified to suit the way that the tribespeople fought
Like a fusion between the two
There were many things that Arial had learned as he conquers this city. He realizes that his military skill had room to grow and there is no need to be so rigid.
It was like he was back in his early years in the beginning as a Duke of Arrandy where he had to personally went out riding with his entourage all over his duchy to pacified bandits and marauders.
But when he sat on the Imperial Throne as the Emperor and after the Conquest, rarely he had the chance to go out of the Imperial palace as anything regarding the military could be entrusted to Leander.
If not for the fact that he could trust Leander, Arial would wish he was here.
Silas probably knows that the only Great General that he could trust in the capital is Leander as such, he did not send here to help
Instead Silas sent those two butchers. He sighed inwardly when thinking of this
The Imperial army had to be rigid because not many of them possess such abilities like of the tribespeople.
They were normal humans and not blessed by some kind of magical abilities. But it did not mean the Imperial Army did not have space for flexibility in its military.
After all, sometimes when one could not bend, one would break. Arial understood this and while emphasizing discipline, he did not discourage innovative solution
And it is because of that, Arial had allowed flexibility in the creation of the Twelve general system with each general had their own way of handling and fighting a battle
After he won, he did not sit on his laurel and feast himself. He was focused. It is ironic that he felt more alive in a battle then he is when he is doing anything else.
The choice of his life shape his current personality.
He thought about many things even as he walks across the hallways and slowly coming closer to the Grand Hall.
Outside the Grand Hall, there is two guards guarding the door.
The moment they see Arial they bowed and push the door open. Arun shut his mouth as Arial stride into the hall.
When the creaking sound of the door echoes inside the Grand Hall, the military officer inside the hall all straightened up.
They were all dressed in military armor.
Arial walk with his back straight toward the largest seat on the center of the room and he sat down on it. Arial did not modify it to create a throne room for himself. There is still so many things that needs to be done before he could claim himself king
But to the army that he had lead, they all believe that Arial would become King and would proclaim himself king.
A state could secede from the kingdom and one could proclaim themselves king.
In this kind of period of chaos where everybody is scrambling to open the Ancient Gate, this kind of thing is very common.
Arial himself, if not for the fact that he had an open mind and that he also had meet face to face with a true Goddess would think that these Thirteen tribe fought for a fairytale.
In the Human Continent, they would fight to sit on the Imperial Throne. That is something normal.
After all, Arial who sit on that imperial throne knows how many people who would smile in front of him and scheme when his back is turned on them
When he established the Empire, he created a Seal.
This is the Seal of the Empire.
Since then, whoever wanted to claim the mountain and seas of the Empire, need to possess the Seal of the Empire.
It is a sign of legitimacy.
Without it, no matter how you proclaim yourselves emperor, most of the majority of the lords under the Empire would not easily break their oath.
Legitimacy to the throne could be quite trivial. or quite important depending on the circumstances.
The Ancient gate is like the Seal of the Empire for the people of the Thirteen Tribe.
You could conquer the whole three kingdoms but as long as you could not open the Ancient gate, your rule would not be recognized and people would always rebel against you
And that is what all of the rulers in this period fight for.
Arial then put his chin on his palm and look at the people in the room. There are the two generals of Eden.
Looking at the way the other look at them, Arial is quite sure that they have introduced themselves
They greeted each other
By now, everyone knows that Arial is an Outlander Monarch. Some called him the Outlander Emperor, Outlander Ruler and so on and so forth of the same variation
Whatever they called him they all know he is of noble of foreign descent. But, for some reason unlike what he had expected, the people did not seem to hate that an Outlander is ruling over them
he is curious about this matter. If this was in the Human Continent, such a foreign ruler would surely encounter a lot of resistance.
For example, his rule over Eden or formerly known as Vangua.
If not for his almost draconian measures against dissenters and rebels, Vangua might have reclaim back their independence.
That is the reason why it was so important to have a justifiable cause and a strong claim that is acknowledged by the noble class.
However, for some unknown reason, what Arial had heard was that the Thirteen Tribes did not mind being ruled over by Outlanders or foreigners. It is certainly not because they were meek or weak.
They must have their own reason. Arial intends to find out later.
As for now, the most important thing is how to rule this city and how to take over the entire state and develop it into a strong base
There was one thing that Arial had decided early on.
Arial could not establish bureaucracy like he did in the Human Continent.
The reason why bureaucracy work in the Human Continent is because they were already an Empire in Human Continent in the past
The infrastructure was already there in place.
And scholars were held in a high degree, laws and order were something that is wanted by everyone.
Education is flourishing, the desire for a centralized government is there, and centralization is something that is normal for the people of the Human Continent.
There are the systems of nobles, of peasantry.
This feudalistic system is ingrained deeply in the culture of the people of the Human Continent.
It wasn't until the rule of Emperor George (ruling from 355 to 455 AfterFall) that bureaucracy was heavily promoted
During the rule of Alexander II who is also known as the Alexander the Divider (reigning from 596 to 626 AfterFall) the kingdoms seceded from the MontBlanc dynasty
It would not be united again until Arial established a new imperial dynasty in Vangua after his victory against King Harald and once again centralize the power of the other kingdoms he had conquered to the Central government in Eden.
People might have some feelings against him, good or bad and they criticize him for his draconian measures and his methods, but no one objected to the centralization of the government.
It was something as natural as the sun rising up in the morning and setting during the evening.
The same thing could not be said for the people of the Shadowlands. They did not abhor the concept of nobles and peasant but they did not like it either.
They have their village chief but it is a bit different than the noble's system where the Chief have power over them
Chief could be elected and they could be removed from office.
It is a responsibility of a chief to ensure the survival of the people under him, whether it is an old pure blood tribe or a mixed blood tribe composed of many other tribes, it is a duty and responsibility.
The people under him follow his order not out of fear but out of respect toward the trust that is entrusted upon the Chief.
For the Chief is the Will of the Tribe.
