Chapter 241 Orc Priest
First thing Henry did when up on the branch was to cast his eyes wide and his perception along with it just in case he was not alone up so high. It was unlikely already as, if Orcs were in the trees as they had been to ambush their group a while earlier, they would either had shot them all up with arrows or would have alerted the Orcs up ahead in the group.
Sure enough, there were no Orcs in the trees but Henry did pick up nests of birds but he barely cared enough to pay attention to what type of birds they were. They weren't his concern. The Orcs were.
Looking down into the group, it was almost too easy to pick out the one with the strongest energy and part of that was because it was exuding it so intensely that Henry could see it like a field around it.
The Orc was as tall as any of the Orc Warriors and while it didn't have as much muscle mass, the shroud of leather it had over its body added to its size. it had a Orc caster's Staff in hand but this was so clearly different from that of the other Casters that Henry had killed so far. The staff of this Orc Caster was larger especially at the top and it looked more Y'Nth metal than wood.
All in all, there was something menacing about that Orc that justified the aura it was letting off as well as the sheer powerful energy Eloise had earlier detected. Its slightly tipped ears twitched with every slight shift of the wind. Its grip on its Staff remained ever-tight and Henry was sure it was only too ready to dish out a spell in defence or retaliation.
Henry didn't aim for the strongest in the group.
He had a strong feeling his shot would not be successful and he wanted to get off to a killing start so he turned 'Cudgel's' muzzle toward an Orc warrior standing a few meters away from the large Orc Caster.
The Warrior Henry picked was so obviously a better target to start with. It was using its Ax as some kind of crutch that it leaned against as it gabbled off in what Henry assumed was some Orc speech.
He aimed and pulled the trigger which set his gun off in a bang. Almost faster than the sound was the result down below as the mana-infused bullet from 'Cudgel' pierced through the Orc's head from one side and out the other.
But you see, Henry hadn't just picked one target and left it off at that. He had spring-boarded from his first target to at least five more around it. They were the ones the first kill was talking to in incoherent Orc speech. If that was what it was.
He turned his gun's barrel and fired shot after shot. His bullets punctured the head of three more before their faces could completely form expressions of confusion.
The fourth victim, driven by some urge to investigate the fate of its fellows grabbed its Ax and looked up in the direction the shots had come from only for a bullet to strike it in the very center of its forehead. Killing it as well.
Only the fifth survived the first shot that targeted it by moving even a meter away from where it originally stood. Of course, this made hardly any difference as Henry just moved 'Cudgel' and claimed its life still. Its death was, however, a bit more brutal. A shot through the neck first to 'slow it down' before another bullet connected to the back of its head.

And so ended Henry's five-kill streak. Of course, by the time it was over, the entire group was alerted to his existence. If the repeated bangs his gun let out as it fired shot after shot didn't alert them, then the puncturing of the heads of their fellow Warriors certainly did.
The Orc leader stood to its feet and its red glowing eyes were on Henry. So were the attention of everyone else which of course made it the perfect time for the group of Knights and Dungeon Raiders to make their presence known with attacks from a distance.
Every Knight except Eloise had their crossbow and Bows in hand and fired shots at the Orcs, catching a good few by surprise and killing them to reduce the already massive size of the enemy forces.
Most of the Orcs were much too alert to be taken out by crossbow bolts. They either leaned hard enough to have it pass aimlessly through the air or they leaned just enough to have it just barely graze their thick hide-like skin. Other more skillful few used their Axes to knock the Bolts aside.
Eloise cast her magical beam and it struck her target so hard and with such a wide area of coverage that hard leans and Ax parries made no different and it was slammed away still.
All in all, attention was suddenly turned away from Henry and directed at this large force. Or at least, that was mostly the case and others were more sluggish. Either way, things devolved into chaos that was currently in the favor of the Dungeon Raiders.
Henry took advantage of the Chaos to shoot down two more Orcs.

One thing he had discovered quickly was that there was only one Caster in this group and it was the leader that had been glaring at him menacingly. This meant he had very little to worry about as far as range attacks were concerned. This made this the perfect situation that was only made better when the only Caster stopped paying attention to him.
it was either because it saw Henry as only a nuisance or —much more likely—, it was because it detected the strongest energy in the group of Dungeon Raiders was coming from the Knight leading the charge.
Sir Boyle looked very impressive as he leaped into the fray of battle, hacking and slashing and jabbing his sword at Orcs left and right. Sometimes he did enough to kill them. Other times it was to kick them away where they were swiftly picked off by another Knight sticking close to him.
Just as the Orc Leader had its eyes on Boyle, the Knight also had his eyes on it. As the strongest in the group, and leading the expedition, Boyle rightly felt it was his responsibility to go up against the strongest of the enemies. Once it was taken down, the rest of the enemies would be easier to dispatch of.
"Sir Boyle!" Eloise yelled out suddenly and right after her yell, she let out a grunt as she sliced her sword through an Orc's side, before wrapping a string of mana around its neck to pull it closer for a final stab through the neck to kill it.
The sequence happened over a few seconds and right after it ended, Eloise continued,
"It's an Orc Priest!"
She was obviously referring to the Orc leader and despite the sounds of battle that was now prevalent on the scene, everyone heard her. There was a look of understanding in their eyes. But Boyle'a expression seemed the same if just a little more serious,
"I know, Eloise," he said in a grave tone, "I know."
Henry judged from the reactions, however brief they were before everyone became intent on fighting again, that the term 'Orc Priest' probably meant something in particular to the danger level of the enemy. He could make enough of a guess already but decided to go a step further.
