Chapter 126 – What did an obtuse man know about skincare? (2)

Ruan Xia ignored this father and son pair and headed downstairs ahead of them.

The housekeeper aunty was bustling about in the kitchen making breakfast.

Just then, the doorbell rang. Ruan Xia was closer to the door, so she went over there. Through the security camera, she saw a young man standing outside the door. Thinking that there were other people at home, she felt it was safe to open the door without checking further.

Before she had time to ask the person for his name, she saw that the young man was holding a large bouquet of roses. It was quite the spectacular sight. She estimated that there had to be at least 99 red roses in the bouquet.

Looking as if he was having a hard time holding up the bouquet, the young man checked a small card and asked, “Excuse me, does Miss Ruan live here?”

Ruan Xia froze in surprise for a moment. “That’s me.”

The delivery boy smiled and handed the card over for Ruan Xia to sign. “Miss Ruan, please sign this.”

Ruan Xia accepted the card from the delivery boy. The card didn’t say who the sender of the flowers was. Under the urgings of the delivery boy, she signed her name.

Holding the large bouquet of roses, she turned around with a confused look. Her first reaction was to ask Song Tingshed, “Did you send this?”

Of course, as soon as she asked this question, she regretted it.

There was no way that Song Tingshen would send her flowers. He didn’t seem like the type of person that would do something like that.

Her brain must have broken for a moment for her to ask him that.

Sure enough, when Song Tingshen looked at the large bouquet of roses she was holding, he showed a doubtful expression. He shook his head. “No.”

Ruan Xia rummaged through her brain, but she truly couldn’t think of any other more likely possibilities. She had thought of a few people... but the people that had an interest towards the original owner also knew that she had a husband. Not only was she married, she was married to Song Tingshen, a person that had a lot of means and was very capable in the business world. It was because of this that no one had dared to openly pursue the original owner in the past.

So then, the question was, who had such poor judgement that he would send flowers to her house? Or to look at it from another angle, who wasn’t afraid of offending Song Tingshen by pursuing her?

Speaking of people with poor judgement...

Ruan Xia made a guess. Was the sender Duan Chi, the guy that was suffering from Chūnibyō?

(T/N: Chūnibyō is a Japanese colloquial term usually used to describe early teens who have delusions of grandeur.)

Out of the possible list of people, he was the only one that would do things that couldn’t be expressed in a few words. After all, he was someone that had directly gone to Song Tingshen’s office...

Sure enough, there was a card hidden in the bouquet. The words, “Don’t throw this away ~” was written on the card.

She carried this giant bouquet of roses into the living room and placed it down on the coffee table.

Little Wang immediately rushed over. He exclaimed, “Wow!” several times before saying, “so many flowers.”

Song Tingshen didn’t seem to plan on asking her who sent the flowers. Instead, he held Little Wang’s hand and led him towards the dining room.

Ruan Xia couldn’t guess what he was thinking. He probably didn’t mind. After all, they had a forthright discussion and were upfront about their relationship. He probably believed her when it came to her personal life.

His response probably meant that he wanted to leave her some face.

After eating a simple breakfast, Song Tingshen prepared to go to work.

Even Ruan Xia didn’t notice that when Song Tingshen passed by the living room, his gaze unobtrusively lingered over the conspicuous rose bouquet on the coffee table.

After waiting for the housekeeper aunty to go out to buy groceries, Ruan Xia went to the living room and sat down on the couch. She felt awkward as she looked at the large bouquet of roses.

She had put too much faith in the novel’s plot. She had thought that since Duan Chi didn’t even make it to cannon fodder level in the novel, it meant that he wouldn’t make another appearance in her life. It wasn’t the bouquet that was putting her in an uncomfortable position. She could just throw it into the trash can. But, what would she do if he sent her another bouquet tomorrow? This was clearly not letting her live a peaceful life.
