The Blue Eyes

Chapter 213 - HIS MOTHER'S DAUGHTER

Jaden Dunn. Kevin had never heard of that name before. He never cared about the politics of this country, and he also never cared about the powerful people in this country.

If his father didn't tell him that the man was the vice leader of the Intelligence Agency, he surely would stare at his father dumbly because he had no clue about that name.

The living room fell silent after the master of the house mentioned a name, and the silence was only be broken by Charlotte's question. "I still don't understand why Kevin is investigating Fredy and the abandoned mine, but do you think Fredy and Jaden have a nasty plan behind our back, Ben?"

Charlotte's question surprised Kevin a little. His father told him that Jaden Dunn was someone from the Intelligence Agency, and he had such a high position as well. However, immediately connecting Jaden Dunn with the case he was investigating was such a haste movement.

"I can't be sure about that," Benjamin quickly responded. "I know you that don't like someone from the Intelligence Agency, but you shouldn't blindly suspect a person with enough proof."

Benjamin and Charlotte suddenly conversed about something that could only be understood by the two of them, and both Kevin and Kris furrowed their brows as they observed the conversation.

"That person is despicable. Maybe she is indeed planning something wicked with Fredy and Jaden."

'She?' Kevin couldn't help but wonder in his heart upon hearing his mother mention the word 'she.'

Kevin had lived with his foster parents for more than 10 years, and he knew quite well about his parents' characters. Most women liked to gossip around as their daily activity, but his adoptive mother was relatively calm and didn't like to talk about someone behind their back.

Now that his mother suddenly showed such an upset expression on her face, it perked his curiosity right away. Who was the 'she' here? Why did his mother dislike that person?

"What are you talking about? Who is the 'she' in the Intelligence Agency? And why do you despise her so much, Mom?" Kevin couldn't hold back his curiosity any longer and immediately asked the question to his mother.

The foster parents finally stopped chattering in their bubble as they turned to Kevin. They were dumbfounded, and they didn't seem to realize that they had talked about something they shouldn't have talked about in front of their son.

"You... you shouldn't listen to your mother, Kevin. Sometimes she couldn't control her thin lips, but you don't have to think much about what she said," the father suddenly explained in panic, and instead of removing the curiosity in his son's head, the statement only made the son feel even more curious.

"Are you hiding something from me, Dad, Mom?"

Kevin could sense something was wrong with his adoptive parents, and he didn't plan to back down before getting an answer. Kris realized that his lover was very serious now, and he chose to remain silent and didn't want to interfere in the conversation.

The Lowells looked in doubt as they glanced at each other hesitantly. At a glance, Kevin knew that his parents were reluctant to tell him the truth. It made him frown even more.

"You'd probably be mad at us if you found out the truth, Kev," Charlotte suddenly chimed in while looking at her son guiltily.

The young man frowned as he felt even more confused. "What do you mean, Mom? Why should I be mad at you?"

Kevin had a feeling that his parents were indeed hiding secrets from him, and he was sure that the secrets were not just simple secrets.

"It's complicated, Kevin. And you'd probably be mad at Selena too if you found out the truth."

Hearing the name of his biological mother was mentioned, Kevin's heart started beating fast again. Was the secret related to his mother too? His mother had another secret all along? And his mother didn't even tell him the secret until her death?

Kevin was in disarray inside, and his lover seemed to notice the expression as he immediately wrapped Kevin's hand in his. His hands were cold again, and Kris could tell that Kevin was very surprised by Charlotte's words. The foster parents hadn't even told him the details, but Kevin was already shaken.

"I don't think you're ready to hear the truth, Kev. Maybe it would be better if your parents told you the truth some other day, but not today," Kris was very worried, so he decided to interfere. He knew that he wasn't in the place to intervene in Kevin's family matters, but he couldn't bear to see his lover suffer.

"No, Kris," the scientist shook his head firmly without looking at his lover. "I'm curious about everything, so my adoptive parents better not try to hide anything from me."

Kevin was completely shaken. From the start, many people lied to him and put him in the dark. However, he managed to let go of the past and did not expect there to be more lies waiting for him. He thought that he already knew everything to do with his mother, but he guessed wrong because there were still more secrets that might hurt him even more.

Benjamin and Charlotte both looked guilty and didn't dare to look at their son, but the son was still waiting for their response as he kept glaring at the two people. Kevin remained unfazed, and it seemed that his unperturbed attitude pressured his parents more.

"Fine. I'll tell you everything, Kevin. But please promise me that you won't blame Selena for not telling you about this matter. Your mother had a reason why she decided to keep this matter a secret from you until the end."

Benjamin's words made him feel even more nervous, and he even held his breath as he waited for further explanation.

"You are not the only child of your mother, Kevin. Your mother.... has a daughter."
