The Blue Eyes

Chapter 190 - THE REAL ENEMY

Blue. The girl was waiting for their arrival in the orphanage. She had school today and was also busy managing the orphanage, so only now that she could wait for their arrival leisurely in the living room.

Kevin had told her that he and the others were on their way back to the orphanage, and she patiently waited for them while doing nothing.

Her ears caught the sound of a car stopping in front of the building, and she immediately got up from the couch and ran toward the door. After she opened the door and slightly ran to the veranda, she could see four people come out of the car and walk toward the orphanage building.

Blue furrowed her thick brows when she saw an unfamiliar face was there along with the three familiar faces. She couldn't help but become on guard when the man approached her on the veranda.

"You are waiting for us here, Blue? Why didn't you stay inside?" Kevin asked the young girl when they arrived at the veranda.

Blue didn't answer his question, though. Instead, she still focused on the stranger who had just come along with her dear brother.

"He is the soldier who brought the news about the explosion on the island, right?" Blue asked the question after recognizing the stranger's face.

Kevin looked confused when he saw the girl's cold attitude toward their 'guest.'

"It's Casper, Blue," Jack was the one who explained to the girl. "We met him in Chilad. Something happened there, so we bring Casper with us now."

The girl finally tore her gaze away from Casper and turned to Jack. "What happened in Chilad?"

Jack was about to answer, but Kris was faster than him.

"Let's go inside first, Blue. Don't you want to make some tea for us?"

Blue just realized that her uncle was right. Her uncle had just come back from a place that far away from Nozheic, and they should rest first before she could question them.

"Let me make some tea for us. I'm good at making tea."

The four people turned their heads toward the person who just voiced his idea unexpectedly. They seemed to be confused when Casper suddenly volunteered to make them some tea.

Casper looked nervous when he received the gazes full of question marks.

"Why do you want to make some tea, Cas? You must be tired too. You should rest in the living room and let Blue make us some tea."

The blue-eyed girl frowned when she heard how Jack had just called Casper's name.

'He even has a nickname for this bald soldier?' She questioned inwardly.

"I just don't want to bother Miss Blue. I'm not that tired, so it's okay, Jack."

The young girl's frown grew deeper when she heard the soldier's words. The soldier and Jack looked a bit intimate in her eyes, and she couldn't help but feel the jealousy in her heart.

"Let me make some tea for you guys. You can just sit down in the living room."

After she finished speaking, Blue immediately left them all on the veranda to enter the building. The girl's furious stomping didn't go unnoticed by the four men, but they didn't say anything as they started walking through the door of the orphanage.

"You can rest here, Cas. Make yourself at home," said Jack as he sat down on the sofa.

The young soldier looked hesitant before he sat down next to Jack.

Opposite them, Kevin and Kris sat beside each other on the other sofa.

"Blue doesn't seem to welcome me, Jack."

The three people frowned at the young soldier's sudden statement.

"Don't take it seriously. My niece is always like that toward a stranger. She even hated me before she finally welcomed me."

Kris tried to comfort the soldier, but the said soldier wasn't relaxed even after the tan-skinned man comforted him. He just smiled at Kris before turning to Jack again. "You haven't answered my previous question, Jack," he spoke to the blonde again.

The blonde looked confused when he asked, "Which question?"

"It's my question about Blue," the young soldier replied. "What's your relationship with her?"

"Why do you want to know about my relationship with Jack?"

Jack didn't even have time to answer Casper's question because Blue suddenly came back to the living room with five cups of tea in her hands. She then put down the tray on top of the table a little harshly.

"Why don't you answer my question? Why do you want to know about my relationship with Jack?"

The atmosphere suddenly became tense, and no one dared to make a sound after Blue asked the question.

Kevin seemed to be able to read the situation, and he quickly intervened, "You better sit down first, Blue. Casper is our guest, so you'd better behave yourself now."

Kevin's warning came out sternly, so Blue didn't have any option other than to sit down on the empty sofa in the living room. She looked pathetic because she was the only one who sat alone on the sofa.

"I don't understand why Casper suddenly become curious about Blue, and why did suddenly Blue become so harsh toward Casper?" Jack commented as his eyes shifted from Blue to Casper.

"I'm just curious," Casper answered the question timidly before he moved his gaze to Blue. "I'm sorry if I offended you earlier, Miss Blue. I didn't mean anything bad. I'm just curious."

Blue tried hard not to roll her eyes when she heard the soldier's answer.

"Blue is like my younger sister, Cas. You don't need to worry about it."

Blue's heart fell on the floor when Jack suddenly spoke to the young soldier. She stared at the blonde in horror, but the blond didn't look back at her and was busy gazing at the young soldier.

The blue-eyed girl's hands gripped the hem of her shirt tightly. She could sense something was going on between Jack and Casper, but she didn't want to admit it.

Kevin and Kris noticed the girl's bitter expression, but they couldn't do anything. They could only glance at each other as if they were communicating through telepathy.

They both then sighed heavily, and the heavy sigh managed to grab the attention of the three people in the room.

"Let's put aside that matter for now. I want to know why Casper was in Chilad today. You're not just on your vacation, are you?"

The young soldier squirmed in his seat when he heard Kevin's question.

"I've explained to Jack and Kris about that," the soldier answered. "I was investigating a case related to the buried valley, and it turns out that you guys are also investigating the matter now."

The soldier then explained the details to Kevin and Blue. He explained to them the same thing he had explained to Kris and Jack before. It was about the missing soldiers and his solo investigation in Chilad.

Aside from that story, Kris also recounted the story about the mysterious attack in Chilad. Blue didn't know about that, so he felt the need to tell his niece about that.

The detailed explanation stunned both Kevin and Blue. Kevin wasn't surprised by the mysterious attack story, but he was more surprised by Casper's story about the army.

"Something like that happened in the army?" The incident of the missing soldiers surely surprised Kevin, and he couldn't hide his shock.

"Maybe I'm the only soldier who knows about this case. This is a sensitive matter, so I'm investigating this case alone."

"That's so dangerous! You guys were attacked in Chilad, and it proved that this case is not just a simple case. It's related to the army!"

Kevin's conclusion might be wrong, but that was the only thing on this mind now. Some soldiers went missing, and when they were investigating the case in Chilad, they were attacked by some armed people. That proved that their enemy was not a common person.

"You guys trust this soldier right away?" Blue suddenly chimed in, making the four heads turn toward her. "I've warned you guys to not believe in people easily, but you can trust this soldier right away?"

Blue's question sounded cold and distant, and that surprised the four men in the room. Blue seemed to be disappointed at the three men. She had warned them all, but they seemed to ignore her warning.

"The mysterious people in Chilad tried to attack Casper as well. I think Casper is not related with them, Blue," Kris voiced his opinion.

"Your uncle is right, Blue. I've known Casper for a while, and I believe that he's not a bad person," Jack also defended the young soldier.

The other people in the room were arguing over him, and Casper could only duck his head weakly.

Meanwhile, Blue sneered after hearing her uncle and Jack shield the young soldier in front of her eyes. She looked even more upset with them all, and she didn't hide her feelings anymore.

"What if I say that Casper is our real enemy. Will you believe me?"
