Volume 6.5 Chapter 56: You’re A Natural

"What happened to you?" Jack questioned as he saw Keith and the two return home. Well, it was mainly Alfia and Faelyn. Keith looked the same as he left. But the two elves were a stark contrast. Faelyn's aura was radiating like no tomorrow, while Alfia was the opposite; it looked like she went through a spartan workout.

"Who's that on your shoulder, Faelyn?" What was different with Faelyn was the small hedgehog riding on her shoulders. Quill was now doing the Fira.

"This is my spirit, Quill," Faelyn explained as she noticed how Quill shook. He was a little frightened.

"I see," Jack said nothing else as he headed to his bedroom.

"What am I supposed to do?!" Alfia was about to have a meltdown.

"There there, Quill." Faelyn patted the hedgehog's head. Yet, the small being quickly hid inside her collar. That giant explosion occurring beside her scared him.

"Alright, you guys go and take a break." After all of this, they needed some time to rest. Faelyn nodded and walked with light steps while Alfia trudged to her room.

A sigh came from Keith's mouth as he headed to the backyard. There, the three great spirits outside. Udine tended to the seed while Diana and Nephele tended to the garden.

"Keith, you're back. How was it?" Diana knew about the training.

"Can I ask you guys for advice?"

"Hmm? What's the matter?"

"How do spirits and elves get along with one another?" This was something he was confused about. From how Alfia and Faelyn explained it, spirits were revered. But this was inaccurate. Diana and the two were revered, while the others were treated normally. It seemed something was up.

"Hmm, I guess we're treated as equals by the elves."

"Please explain further."

"The elves treat us like an equal race to theirs. For example, a low-class spirit would be considered commoner in their book. Middle would be nobles while high-class spirits are considered kings and queens."

"I see. And you guys would be the highest?" If high-class spirits were equated with royalty, what about these three?

"We'll be considered higher than the elven king. However, we're not the highest. That would be given to the spirit king class." There was someone higher than them.

"I see." Keith thought about it, "Also, Diana, why are spirits so close to me? Is it because of our contract?"

"Partially." Diana shook her head,

"Partially?"

"My contract with you does give you some benefits; one of them is to make spirits know you're contracted with me, a great spirit. They would show you great respect. However, their fondness for you is something entirely on you."

"Eh?"

"That means you have a natural affinity for spirits." Nephele grinned as she hugged Keith from the back.

"I guess?" Keith scratched his head.

"How did you not figure that out?"

"I had an inkling."

"Anyways, I know how to help Alfia with her spirits." Keith smiled as he knew what he could do.

...

"Alright, I'm going to switch things up." Keith clapped his hands together. The three had returned to the forest.

"Hmm?"

"Faelyn, you continue with the pace with Quill." Faelyn and Quill became best buddies overnight; they were attached to the hip with one another.

"Try to have him use magic," "Understood."

"Now. Alfia, you will be working with one spirit for now."

"I-"

Keith raised his hand, "Before you say anything, you dealing with two spirits is overkill. Focus on one first before you have them both here."

If she couldn't handle two, why do it? Divide the amount first so she could get used to it.

"...Fine." Alfia took a sigh, understanding what Keith meant. Just last time was enough to show how rough she had it.

"How about we start with the hawk?" Keith thought the hawk was the better choice of the two.

Alfia nodded as she summoned the hawk. The hawk looked at the two before it landed on Keith's shoulders.

Twitch! Alfia's eyes twitched in a weird way. Keith kept his cool as he stroked the hawk's beak, "I'm not your contractor. She is."

"Kwak!" "I know. But she really wants to work together with you." Keith grinned. It looked at Alfia for a moment before jumping onto her shoulders.

"Good. Let's start with some simple exercises."

"How?"

"The simplest thing is to ask the hawk to go around the tree." Simple enough.

"Go!" Alfia pointed at the tree, but the hawk only shook its head, uninterested.

"Let me try." Keith looked at the hawk, "Go around over there."

"Kwak!" The hawk did just that as it quickly dashed off and flew back to Keith's hand.

"Good job!" Keith patted the hawk and turned to Alfia, "Now, it's your turn."
