Volume 6.5 Chapter 55: 1 down, 1 to go

With Keith’s gesture, the hedgehog stared for a few seconds. He was definitely weighing his options. And he decided; he strolled over to Keith's side and asked for another apple.

"Sure, you can have another one." Keith handed the spirit the apple.

"Pi!" The hedgehog nibbled on the apple at high speed. While he did, Keith moved his hand over the hedgehog's head. Well, his hand was wider than the hedgehog's entire body.

"Pi?" The hedgehog glanced at Keith. A smile formed, "It's nothing. You can keep eating." Good, it isn't wary of me. The hedgehog was calm in front of him.

"How about you try to feed him?" "Eh?"

"I think he would be fine with you feeding it." It was the perfect time to do so.

"..." Faelyn nodded as she took some apple slices. She placed the slices in front of the hedgehog's face. That jolted the little fellow. Seeing it flinch, Faelyn slid her hand back.

"?" The hedgehog tilted his head before he waddled over to the food and ate it. Faelyn scooched away from her familiar.

This girl. Keith sighed as he patted the hedgehog's back. Looking at the human, they were speaking with their eyes.

"Pi," The hedgehog nudged Keith's leg.

"No problem." Now, she has to get used to him. Keith turned to Faelyn, who looked at them enviously.

"Alright! Let's do something simple!"

"Please." Alfia groaned, "Last thing was simple, and we couldn't even do that."

"Trust me, this is easy as well." Keith brought out a ball, "You're going to play catch with your spirits." They should increase their bond.

"Okay." Alfia took the ball and went with the spirits. But Faelyn scratched her head, "I don't think I should try it." There was really nothing she could do...or so she thought.

"Pii!" Faelyn looked down to see the hedgehog before her. Her eyes widened. This was the first time he got close to her on his own accord.

"...Do you want to try?"

The hedgehog nodded. It was weak but more than enough to cause Faelyn to pause. She looked down at the ball. I shouldn't throw it so hard. That ball was three times larger than her spirit.

"Here," Faelyn bent down and rolled the ball slowly to the hedgehog. Responding to the move, the hedgehog caught it.

"When this happens, you say good job," Keith whispered.

"Good job." Faelyn clapped her hands but realized he didn't like loud noises.

"Pii!" Yet, it didn't get fazed by Faelyn's movements.

"Please bring it back." Faelyn opened her hands. The hedgehog nodded and slowly brought the ball back. Everyone could tell it was using all his strength to push it back. But when it nudged the ball over to Faelyn.

Poof! The ball deflated. It had gotten knicked by the quills.

"Pii!" The hedgehog was about to cry when Faelyn shook her head, "There's no need to be sad. It was just a ball."

"Pii?" "I'm not mad; you did excellent." Faelyn moved her hand over the hedgehog and stroked him. As she did, the hedgehog started to purr like a cat.

"Pii!" It was pleasant and full of delight, like with Keith. A small smile formed on Faelyn's face as she saw this. Cute.

"Um, do you want to try again?" "Pii!"

Competitive. Faelyn could see some competitiveness in his eyes. That was why she tossed another ball at him. The hedgehog quickly grabbed it; it was quick on the uptake as he moved it without his quills touching it.

"Good job!" Faelyn smiled as she held the hedgehog. But when she did that, she realized what she did. But the hedgehog didn't move as it showed his head.

"Do you want me to pat your head?"

"Pii!" "Alright." Faelyn chuckled as she started to pat its head again. But then she asked, "Do you want a name?"

"Pii!"

"Then how about Quill?"

"Pii!" The hedgehog seemed to like it as it snuggled up to Faelyn.

"Mmhmm."

"Good job, Faelyn." So she could show a smile like that. Faelyn was more of a neutral person, not showing many emotions. To see her like this was a good change in pace. Keith smiled and turned his head to the other side. On one side was the warm atmosphere between Faelyn and Quill, but the other side was just...damn.

"What are you doing?! Return the ball!"

"Woof!" The wolf and hawk were running around with the balls, not trying to let her get it. Who was the catcher now? The roles were reversed.
